Chiropractic Care

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic services are perfect for anyone looking for a natural and safe solution to their chronic or acute pain without the negative effects that medication can cause. Chiropractic care is a completely safe and powerful treatment for pain. Peak Performance Chiropractic Clinic specializes in dynamic correction of the human body. Our treatments focus on pinpointing the source of your pain and eliminating the problem with natural and safe approaches.

Evaluation

Before we can treat you, we must first evaluate what treatment you will need. We always begin with a comprehensive examination. This is where we will analyze each patient based on their structural and functional capabilities to determine if and where the prospective patient has joint dysfunction and dynamic instability.

Each exam will vary depending on the patient’s present symptoms. Chiropractic care is ideal for patients who wish to treat the cause of their problem in a safe and natural way and not just mask their symptoms with potentially harmful or addictive medication. The Examination process will include several tests involving reflexes, structural postural analysis, movement assessments and other tests to diagnose your condition. If indicated and needed to accurately diagnose your condition, lab work, x-rays, CAT scans or MRIs can be ordered.

Adjustments

Our experienced doctors are skilled at “joint manipulation,” also commonly called “chiropractic adjustments.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury from trauma or from a disease process. injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and reduced function. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, and alleviates pain and muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal.

Some potential patients are a bit hesitant about the  “popping” and “cracking” that may occur due to the adjustments. No worries! The Doctors of Peak Performance are skilled in many techniques, several of them do not require any cracking or popping!

While the spine is most commonly associated with manipulation and chiropractic, the Doctors are skilled at adjusting all joints including those in the feet, hands, wrists, knees, hips, and shoulders.

Treatment

We utilize multiple procedures and techniques to allow our patients to achieve dynamic stability and pain reduction in the shortest amount of time. Our treatment procedures are patient tailored and will vary from patient to patient.

Chiropractic adjustments are our main form of treatment and are utilized in order to restore joint motion and improve function in the joints of the spine and extremities that are restricted or fixated. Before we can address the dynamic instability, we must first start with the joints and restore joint motion throughout the body.

Other treatment procedures the doctors may utilize within your visit to begin dynamic stability can include soft tissue mobilization, and rehabilitative exercises/stretches. These specific protocols will help us address the patient’s primary conditions and provide them with the dynamic stability they need to get back to their activities as quickly as possible. These protocols will also help our patients from experiencing the setbacks that can occur during rehabilitation and help prevent future occurrences.

Subsequent Chiropractic visits are scheduled for 30 minutes as Dr. Smith and Dr. Zumberger like to be able to spend one on one time getting you the appropriate treatment you need.

Post Treatment information

After a Chiropractic treatment some patients feel immediate relief from their pain and discomfort, other patients feel sore following treatment. Both outcomes are normal and expected. Some patients wake up the next day feeling more sore due to the adjustments and other treatments that were performed, this is also normal. It may take a few visits for your body to accommodate to all of the physical changes that come with the adjustments and other treatments utilized. However, our goal is intended to get you out of pain in the quickest amount of time and back to the active lifestyle you love as quickly as possible while maintaining the results we get.
